Auto Body FAQ's
Do I need more than one estimate?
You are not required by law to get more than one estimate - period! By state law, it is your car and your choice on deciding where you get your vehicle repaired.
Regardless of who is paying for the repair we have learned that our clients just want their vehicles repaired properly and in a timely fashion. Why drive all over town and jump through hoops when it's not necessary? Just tell the other party involved that you want to go to Sturken's and we'll handle it from there. Remember our motto: making the best of a bad situation.
All of the estimates I got are different. Now, what do I do?
Repair estimates will vary because they are opinions from people. Every shop's method of repair, equipment, standards of repair and warranty is different. You need to decide what feels right. Where were you treated the best? Whose shop was the cleanest? What do their finished repairs look like? Are the shops rated well by their past clients? Will the shop be there in the future to handle any issues that may arise? Rest assured that you won't find nicer or more caring people than the staff at Sturken's. Generations of our clients have been returning to us for over 50 years!
How long will it take to repair my car?
That's a tough one to answer because it depends on many variables. But rest assured that we want you back in your car as fast as you do.
Sturken's has the resources, experience and know how to get the job done right and promptly. Our service writers will keep you informed every step of the way and they'll do their best to make sure that we go as fast as we can while making sure that the job is done right.
What kind of parts does your shop use?
If it is up to us we'll use original factory equipment (OEM) every time. But it is not our choice. Your insurance policy dictates the type of parts that are used. Some policies mandate Aftermarket Parts (AM) be used wherever possible. And unless you want to pay the difference or we can show the insurance company that the AM parts don't fit, we will have to follow the guidelines of your policy. We will explain this to you before we commence repairs. Either way you will have a choice and we will always explain the possible outcomes.
Mechanical and RV FAQ's
Why should I use Sturken's instead of my new car dealer?
Great question! The answers are many.
- Saving money is the first reason - Dealers in the Bay Area charge anywhere from 30-230% more than we do... for the same work!
- Better warranty - We warrant our repairs for 2 years or 24 thousand miles at the minimum. Often times the components are guaranteed for life
- We care - We are always on the lookout for your wallet and your vehicles best interest. We will never recommend something that you don't need. And when we do offer a solution we can explain it.
- We are locally owned - Our ownership is local and involved in the community. Some Dealerships are local but most are big corporate entities that are publicly owned. Their sole reason to exist is to return money to their investors ... your money.
- We're really nice people - We have no chip on our shoulder, no bad attitudes, no management breathing down our backs to make more sales.
We care because you matter. We want you to be thrilled with our service and return for many years.
We are grateful - We realized long ago that we are nothing without our repeat clients. We will treat you right and say thank you every time.
My RV manufacturer is no longer in business. How can you get parts?
In some cases, we can't. That is the honest truth. But in the majority of cases, we can. Because most manufacturers outsource the bulk of the parts we can often get them directly from the companies that made them in the first place. When we can't get specific parts we are able to use our experience and find workable solutions so you can get back on the road.
I don't use my RV much. How often should I have it inspected?
Believe it or not, you still need to inspect the majority of your RV's systems a couple of times a year whether you use it or not.
Roofs and seals wear out. Tires age. Vents crack. Insects build nests in bad places. Mice can enter and destroy things. Batteries dry out and corrode. Wires come loose and things just stop working. Preventative maintenance is far cheaper and wiser then repairs. Make sure to call us and schedule an appointment before long-term storage and at the end of the season. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
WE WILL WORK WITH YOU AND ASSIST YOU IN ANY WAY WE CAN. OUR GOAL IS TO MINIMIZE YOUR INCONVENIENCE AND MAXIMIZE YOUR SATISFACTION. IF WE CAN BE OF SERVICE TO YOU, DON'T HESITATE TO ASK.
