When the Back-to-School sale advertiisements start showing up, we know that the summer months are dwindling. The good news (for those of us who love summer) is that it also means summer inventories are getting discounted. That should mean sales on big ticket summer items, like RVs. It's not too late to start looking for a new toy, and it's never too late to start planning the perfect vacation, which should start from the doorstep of your home.
In a way, you're shopping for an apartment and a car. So this can be a double-whammy adventure. You'll need to examine your needs in a motor home, and explore with discriminating taste for repair expenses, just as you would a car.
1. Who's coming with me?
Obviously, the first thing to look at is size and affordability. Are you bringing the whole family? How many people can it sleep? If you're planning a big shindig with friends and extended family, are you, yourself, willing to use the tent if that's necessary? Are others just as accomidating and flexible? This gives you an idea of how many sleeping surfaces you need. (I say "sleeping surfaces" because some people are extremely flexible and most RV beds don't resemble the bunkers of trains - There might be a dining area, sofa or passenger seat that converts to a bed.
